TRAINING According to Edwin B. Flippo, “Training is an act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing a particular job”.

NATURES OF TRAINING Planned sequence of Events: Training is a planned series of activities that make it possible for the trainees to do things which they have not done before. Promotes behavioural changes: Training helps in bringing a positive changes in the behaviour of an employee by imparting special skills and helping them to perform better.

Enhancing Capabilities: Training is not be ristricted to acquire a particular skill for doing a particular assigned task, but at the same time it is related to the development of the overall capabilities to manage the problems. Removes mental blocks: Training helps in clearing the doubts and insecurities of trainees about their job. Establishes relationship between theory and practices : Training makes it possible for the trainees to link the acquire theoretical knowledge and practical application of their knowledge.

OBJECTIVES OF TRAINING To increase Employees Efficiency: Training aims at increase the efficiency of the employee by imparting the skills needed to perform the task in a better way. To upgrade employee’s skill: Training is essential to keep the employee updated in advance and incorporate the technological changes in accordance with system and procedures of the organisation.

Reduces the production expenditure Training helps the employees to do their work to the best of their abilities in the most economic way. Minimum need of supervision: If a trained person is operating machinery, there will be no need of supervisor, as employee himself is sufficient enough to do good job. Improved levels of quantity and quality: training leads to better production of the goods in large quantity, which are qualitatively superior as well.

METHODS OF TRAINING 1)ON-THE-JOB METHODS On job training methods are based on the concept of learning by doing. In this method,trainees are provided with real job-setting to do their jobs.
