Plan to develop other areas of responsibility. Leaving cultivate leadership for last.

New SC Orientation DC Guide Recruitment Volunteer Research New SC Orientation in July. Edited DC Guide last year. Powe rpoint on Extranet to use in training DCs. Show new SC Guide. New format. Emphasize the SC resources section and the DC training agenda. Looking at volunteer research relating to recruiting and retaining volunteers.

Presentations at SMT joint session Multicultural grants Work in progress Keep awareness of multicultural issues. Grants? Best Practices

6 Leader Development LC in best position to ID potential
What did volunteer do in real life? Look for positive attitude Get a toe in the water Increase involvement as volunteer is willing One leadership position at a time Share load and provide growth opportunities Term Limits – sharing of the load Training - leaders must plan for succession Presented by Art Welch, RC, Eastern Region This is a summary of the presentation Art Welch did at the Regional meeting for the Eastern, Pacific, and Western Regions.

8 Thank you! Have Fun! Volunteer research shows that the payment volunteers value most is appreciation for what they do. So, first of all, I want to thank each of you. I have been an SC and I know how much work you do. I also know the budget news today will not make your job easier. It is even more critical now that we find a way to express our appreciation to our volunteers . It doesn’t have to cost a lot. The words “thank you” go a long way. There are other inexpensive ways to let the volunteers know you appreciate them. Hugs and Kisses—politically correct ones donated door prizes HAND OUT M&M PACKETS.
