3. Secondary Vocational Occupations Education
Vocational programs that prepare a student for immediate employment in career or additional education after graduation
CNA: Certified Nursing Assistant

4. Associate’s Degree
Awarded by a vocational / technical school or a community college after completion of a 2 year course of study

5. Bachelor’s Degree
Awarded by a college or University after a course of study is completed that usually lasts 4 or more years

6. Master’s Degree
Is awarded by a college or University after completion of one or more years of work beyond a bachelor’s degree

7. Doctorate
Awarded by a college or University after completion of 2 or more years beyond a master’s degree.

Methods used to ensure the skill and competency of health care personnel and to protect the consumer of patient
Certification: means the person has fulfilled requirements of education and performance and meets the standards and qualifications established by the professional association or government agency that regulates a particular career.

Registration: Required by some health occupations.
A regulatory body that administers examinations and maintains a current list (registry) of qualified personnel in a given health care.

Licensure: A process whereby a government agency authorizes individuals to work in a given occupation.
To obtain a licensure you must:
Complete an approved educational program
Pass a state board test
Maintain certain standards
Registered Nurse, Doctors, Dentists, PT, LPN. Etc.
Can vary from state to state

Individual must obtain additional hours of education in the specific health career area during a specified period of time
