Early Life Born 3 ,1883 in Prague, the capital of what is now Czech Republic Died June 3, 1924 in Austria His family was fairly wealthy (German speaking, Jewish family) Mother (Julie)(home maker) , Father (Hermann)(business man retailing clothes) 2 younger brothers (Georg, Henrik) 3 sisters (later died in Nazi death camps) Gabriele, Ottilie, Valerie

Cont. Kafka’s father had a quick temper and did not support his sons ideas. Kafka also believed that his personal struggles in his life came from his confrontation's with his dad. Mother did understand his dreams of being a writer.

Attended Charles Ferdinand University of Prague Studied law 1906 Fun fact: Unpaid service as law clerk for the civil and criminal courts.
