Familiarize yourself with this section of the Home tab.
When you want a new slide, choose one from here, just don’t copy and paste a previous slide. These are the Layouts, a skeleton of sorts for your presentation, and you can choose the type of slide you want.

Need a different look. Choose the Design tab
Need a different look? Choose the Design tab. You’ll see many Themes you can choose from. And each Theme has a few Variants for subtle changes.

Themes control your presentation’s fonts, effects, layouts, and colors
Themes control your presentation’s fonts, effects, layouts, and colors. If I change to the green variant, I get a different set of Theme colors. So changing themes or variants might be the best way to change the look of your doc.

Take a moment to… Open PowerPoint, click the Design tab and pick a new Theme.

Seth Godin says… No more than 6 words
No more than six words on a slide --Godin Think “less is more” with PowerPoint. Don’t write your talk on the slides. Use images and a few words. Here’s something: marketing guru Seth Godin says there should no more than six words on a slide. In other words, paraphrase. Try that on your next presentation.

You can add your thoughts, scripts, numerous facts in the Notes section down here. When you present, they are just seen by you.

Less is more is also a good idea for transitions and animations. Too many can be distracting. In the Transitions tab, pick a transition and then select Apply to All for a consistent look to your slides.

What’s new in PowerPoint 2016
If you are looking to find a button or get help in PowerPoint, there’s a new place to look: Tell Me. Type what you need, and often you can perform the action needed. PowerPoint 2016 also has new chart types, new themes, including the colorful theme I’m using now. There’s Office Mix, and upgrades for version history, video resolution, and more.
