4. National History Began as “Women in Construction”
In 1953 by 16 women in Fort Worth, TX
Organized to create a support network
Chartered in 1955 & became “National Association of Women in Construction” (NAWIC)
Today there are over 3900 members and more than 130 chapters

**Not affiliated with a chapter
All levels include National membership. An Active members is one who is employed in the construction industry. A Member-At-Large is not a member of a chapter. A Corporate Chapter member is one whose business owns the membership and can change the member at any time. An Associate member is not involved in the construction industry, has no vote and cannot hold an office. A Retired member is one who is retired, has no vote and cannot hold an office. An International member is for women who live outside the U.S. and are actively employed in the construction industry. A Student Chapter member is someone who is enrolled at an institution of higher education, vocation training program or apprenticeship program and she has no vote and cannot hold office. A Student-At-Large is the same as a Student Chapter member except she does not belong to a chapter.
Sponsorship Program – Businesses and Corporations can support NAWIC through our Sponsorship Program. Premier levels combine the Annual Sponsorship and the Convention Sponsorship and include Groundbreaker’s Club, Builder’s Club, Blueprint Club, Hard Hat Club, Toolbox Club and Landscaper’s Club. The Annual Sponsorship includes the Diamond Level, Platinum Level, Gold Level and Silver Level. The Convention Sponsorship includes the Blue Ribbon Level, Red Ribbon Level, Purple Ribbon Level, Green Ribbon Level, Pink Ribbon Level and White Ribbon Level.
