Representing data Data include:
Character (e.g. letters, special symbols, punctuation marks, parentheses, braces etc.). String (e.g. a group of letters, a word, phrase or sentence, a combination of letters and numbers/special characters, digital signature. Numeric (all types of numbers). Aural or auditory (e.g. Morse Code, musical notes, speech). Visual (e.g. individual frames of a movie, fingerprints, retina). Musical symbols. Note: a character or string is enclosed in quotation marks to identify it as input in a computer program.

Representing information
Information include: Text (words, phrases, sentences, instructions/directions). Graphics. Sound. Video. Special purpose notations (mathematical, scientific and musical notations). Graphical representations (graphs and charts). Tables.
