Wireless Fidelity (15881A0515)

About Wi-Fi The term"Wi-Fi" is used in general English as a synonym for"WLAN"(wireless local area network)"Wi-Fi" is a type of wireless networking protocol that allows devices to communicate without cords or cables. Wi-Fi is technically an industry term that represents a type of wireless local area network(LAN) protocol.

How does Wi-Fi work? Like mobile phones, a Wi-Fi network makes use of radio waves to transmit information across a network. The computer should include a wireless adapter that will translate data sent into a radio signal. This same signal will be transmitted, via an antenna, to a decoder known as the router. Once decoded, the data will be sent to the Internet through a wired Ethernet connection. As the wireless network will work as a two-way traffic, the data received from the Internet will also pass through the router to be coded into a radio signal.

A wireless router is a device that performs the functions waves router and also includes the functions of a wireless access point. It is used to provide access to will Internet or a private computer network. It can function in a wired LAN (local area network), in a wireless-only LAN (WLAN), or in a mixed wired/wireless network, depending on the manufacturer and model. Router :

Connectivity : Connectivity
Many devices can use Wi-Fi, e.g. personal computers, video-game consoles, smartphones, digital cameras, tablet computers and digital audio players. These can connect to a network resource such as the Internet via awireless network access point. Such an access point (or hotspot) has a range of about 20 meters Connectivity Many devices can use Wi-Fi, e.g. personal computers, video-game consoles, smartphones, digital cameras, tablet computersand digital audio players

Security Protocol : Wi-Fi can be less secure than wired connections, such as Ethernet, precisely because an intruder does not need a physical connection. Web pages that useTLS(Transport Layer Security) are secure, but unencrypted internet access can easily be detected by intruders. Because of this, Wi-Fi has adopted various encryption technologies. The early encryption WEPproved easy to break. Higher quality protocols (WPA, WPA2) were added later. An optional feature added in 2007, calledWi-Fi Protected Setup(WPS), had a serious flaw that allowed an attacker to recover the router's password.
