3 What we do and why In the UK: 5,000,000 people over 75 live alone
1,000,000 say TV is their main form of company Loneliness has equivalent health impact as smoking 15 per day 850,000 people have dementia 44,000,000 across the World We: Create New Friendships Keep People Connected Help Them Stay Active Help People To Age Well

4 Promoting health & exercise
The groups are volunteer led – activities are chosen by the group. The men facilitate their own session once a month. Working with over 400 organisations: National Governing Bodies County Sports Partnerships Community Foundations of professional Football, Cricket, Rugby Union and Rugby League Clubs Local Public Health Teams Councils, CCG’s & Health & Wellbeing Boards National Football Museum MCC, PFA, BRDC Schools and colleges Chaired the Sport & Leisure Task Group for PM’s Challenge on Dementia with Alzheimer’s Society Mention Walking Football Network in Scotland & the three aims of the task group © Sporting Memories Network CIC

England Rugby intergenerational project Working across generations with young rugby ambassadors across local rugby clubs in England Delighted to have the support of Sir Steve Redgrave, Katherine Grainger and David Weir for the 2012 project and of course Sir Bobby for a project that will culminate in an exhibition at the museum on the anniversary of England’s world cup victory © Sporting Memories Network CIC

10 National Projects “Spirit of The Games - Sporting Memories Uniting Generations” Working with UK schools on a Road to Rio project to unite generations Memories of ’66: working with National Football Museum and the FA, launched by Sir Bobby Charlton celebrating the 50th anniversary of English footballs finest moment. 11 Media Coverage Media response has been positive – news of ACDC lead singer Brian Johnson’s support went viral thanks to the Guardian and NME picking up the story from a small local news item. 62,500 facebook likes recorded in six hours.
