MSIA Purchasing rules
MSIA Subscription follows VL licensing policy
MSIA license subscription period is activated for 12 months from VL billing invoice date.
If a customer purchases a subscription on an agreement with less than 12 months to run we can only provision them to the end of the VL agreement.
Once an Active MSIA subscription gets to the end of that 12 months there is a 30-day subscription expiration Grace period to support renewal (if a customer has not already renewed).
During the Grace period customers lose access to additional MSIA benefits (e.g. MCT renewal).
Customers who renew receive an additional 12 months from the end of their current subscription (unless there is less than 12 months on their agreement).
Customers who renew after their original membership ID expires receive a new membership ID.
On a new membership ID customers will lose their old lesson plans, users setup on the system, etc.

Customer purchases MSIA as part of their VL agreement
MSIA Account activation
Activation for any of the OVS, Open, Select, Select Plus VL Agreement types is manually done by the MSIA team.
Customers receive their MSIA Membership details directly through containing MSIA ID and security access code.
Program Administrator is setup as the contact we receive through the VL agreement
If a customer orders more than one MSIA the RSC will contact the customer to ask for the details that should be used for the other MSIA memberships
The RSC will then set all memberships up for the customer.

Channel Partners should communicate to customers that the customer will need to take action to activate their MSIA.

MSIA Membership will not be created for the customer until they complete the self-service provisioning process

Step 1
Partner submits new VL order for MSIA
Partner provides customer details to Microsoft. These details are the ones used in provisioning. “Notices Contact” will be the person that signed the Volume License agreement
Step 2
Automated check – does this customer already have a Microsoft Tenant account?
If “No” go to Step 3
If “Yes” go to Step 5
Step 3
Automated “Tenant discovery” sent to customer with instructions on how to sign- in/sign-up for a tenant account
contains tenant activation links for Sign- in/Sign-up unique to the organization
Step 4
The “Notices Contact” signs up to create a new tenant account
Click sign-up activation link from the tenant discovery
Step 5
Automated (activation confirmation) is sent to the Company Administrators (Global And Users Mgmt)
contains Organization name and “Sign In” link to LeX Seat Portal
Note: this process needs to be done ONCE to activate a membership—NOT by every user

Customer logs into LeX Seat portal and assigns their MSIA license(s)
May be assigned to a different Administrator if required but customer needs to ensure they communicate this to their Admin

MSIA Membership is automatically created with the assigned Program Admin

MSIA Program Administrator receives Welcome with log-in information for MSIA
Welcome with Membership ID and Program Key for membership activation will be sent within 24 hours
Step 9
MSIA Program Administrator logs into MSIA membership site and provides access to educators in the school
Membership can ONLY be activated 24 hours after license was assigned

After the membership has been setup the Program Administrator receives a Welcome with the Microsoft Imagine Academy membership ID and program key (ALL VL agreement types)
Program Administrator goes to and clicks the ‘Sign In’ button.
Option provided if the user wishes to log in using a Microsoft account or an Office 365 account.
