Look it up Use context clues to try and figure it out Ignore it Break it down to see if you can tell what the definition is by looking at each part of the word (prefixes, suffixes, and roots) 2. Out of everything you will read, I wrote up a list of over 150 words that might throw you off. We are going to practice defining unfamiliar words as an essential part of reading to understand a text You will be quizzed on social justice vocabulary HOWEVER you will not be quizzed on the this entire list—just the terms I made the quizlet from (you will get a vocab sheet on this later this week)

Homework: Either use a real or online dictionary tonight to define 25 more words from the list. We’ll be using this skill tomorrow as well, as we begin to read about the different social justice movements of the 1960’s.
