2
Definitions (dictionary)
Perimeter- the length of a boundary or outer boundary of a 2 dimensional figure. Area-the surface included inside a set of lines Cricket888 dictionary (simple) Perimeter is the length of the border ( on all sides) of a shape. Area is the inside of a 2-D shape
3
Perimeter P E R R E I M The distance around the outside of an object.
4
Perimeter Examples in the Real World:
Edges of a picture frame or a table
5
Area The space inside of an object.
We measure area using square units. A R E A
6
Area Examples in the Real World:
Total space on the floor inside a room Carpet, Tile Floor
7
The relationship between Area and Perimeter
The relationship between area and perimeter is complex but easy to understand. Area is the inside of a 2-D shape, like a rectangle Perimeter is the distance around the outline of a 1-D and 2-D shape. Perimeter is 1-D and Area is 2-D

How to find are AND perimeter OF SHAPES
To find area, you need to take the length of two sides of a shape, multiply them and put the squared sign at the end. To find perimeter, you find the length of all the sides of a shape, and then add them up.
9
Formulas ( math dictionary)
S=sides(2S x 2):area Perimeter:S=sides(s + s + s + s) These are related through these formulas because area and perimeter are the same except area is inside and perimeter is outside.
