Why Weiland? With over twenty-five years of experience behind our designs, the company has positioned itself as the forerunner in the use of European door and window technology. Modified for U.S. applications, Weiland has been awarded several patents covering unique track and jamb designs delivering unmatched performance. The ability to provide almost limitless configurations in all sizes has provided access to products offering views and lifestyles never before available. Built in San Diego, every system is fully assembled in our test stand for quality assurance. In 1984 Weiland began in San Diego as a specialty woodworking business that evolved to become a manufacturer of high precision European doors and windows. In the early 90’s the company was the first to introduce a liftslide featuring the Weiland flush track, the removable liftslide handle and weatherized pocketing doors. Later, the clip together side jamb and head track were designed and patented to make a multitude of configurations easy to build. Weiland’s liftslides have met Dade County hurricane impact standards and passed ASTM tests with doors as tall as 16’. Folding doors were then introduced and now include countless options including doors up to 13-1/2’ tall and individual panels up to 5’ wide, depending on configuration. As a U.S. manufacturer Weiland imports certain parts necessary to incorporate the best technology into every door and window we build. Rev

Liftslide Overview Big doors, Big views, Big living ) European hardware Flush track ) American ingenuity Performance tested In contrast to conventional sliding doors, this well engineered door system can be built to fill significantly larger than normal openings. Taller and wider panels allow much more glass with less obstructions to maximize the great view outside. The door system can be built in a straight, corner or curved line and can be stacked or pocketed into walls. Large screen doors, designed by Weiland, are also available. Liftslides are available in all aluminum, aluminum with interior wood cladding, or all wood. The liftslide door system is a roller system of European design. It allows door panels to be lifted above a flush track to roll easily when opening or closing the door. When lowered, the weight of the door, special gasketing and a multi-point locking system provide excellent weather resistance and security. The hardware used has been tested and met high performance standards. The Weiland liftslide system, including flush track, was tested for water and air infiltration and met AAMA standards for residential and commercial use. In fact, the Weiland liftslide system and flush track have been tested and met hurricane impact standards. Weiland purchases the best European and American hardware available to meet the high design expectations of our customers. For over twenty years Weiland has worked closely with the major European hardware manufacturers, some with over 100 years of experience, in order to evaluate and select the best combination of components for use in their door and window products. The Company has been an innovator since its inception, adapting European door designs to the American homeowner’s needs. Examples include the development of a weatherized pocketing liftslide door, removable handles and AAMA performance rated flush tracks. Rev

Flush Track Only 3/16” above finished floor (several track options).
Tested to meet AAMA performance standards. Extreme weather tested for over 25 years. Designed and pre-assembled for easier installation. Surface mounted, raised threshold and short tracks are also available. Three flush bottom track options project only 3/16” above the finished floor creating a beautiful, almost seamless transition from inside to outside. When the bottom track cannot be recessed (some remodels) a surface mounted track is available. The flush tracks on multi-panel units are staggered, avoiding the wide or bulky railroad track look of most other systems. Unlike flush tracks sold by other manufacturers, Weiland's standard and patented drainage flush track systems have both been tested and meet AAMA performance standards for air and water infiltration. A transverse drain feature is standard with a patented full drainage track option available to help accommodate variations in flooring materials and extreme weather conditions to further enhance the door system's weather resistance. The Weiland flush track is extruded from corrosion resistant aluminum and then anodized for hardness and long life. Installed by Weiland for over 20 years, it is the best choice to withstand the tough salt-water climates along ocean fronts and similar harsh environments. In contrast, corrosion resistant stainless steel caps used by others are typically thin, soft and prone to denting or other damage. As a result, larger doors may become more difficult to operate over time. In fact, a stainless steel cap may actually contribute to galvanic corrosion depending on the metal with which it comes in contact. Our patented, recessed flush track has been specially designed and pre-assembled for easier installation. A built-in marker on the Weiland track assists in accurately installing the finished floor at the proper height to ensure proper operation and performance. Rev

Door Panel, Jambs and Tracks
Panels can be configured straight, curved, stacked, pocketing and as corner units meeting at almost any angle. Several custom screen options are available. Top and bottom tracks are staggered for a cleaner more streamlined look. There is an almost limitless number of configurations possible including “S” shapes and corners at almost any angle. Weiland screens come standard in all aluminum and available in all wood. Customers have also ordered larger screens using the same sash profile as the doors. Standard all aluminum and aluminum/wood liftslide top and bottom tracks are staggered to avoid the bulky railroad track look. A full head track can also be requested. The wood liftslide does stagger the bottom track but not the jambs or head track. European Hardware By design, the easy to operate liftslide design ensures many years of effortless sliding of large doors. Tested and meets AAMA performance standards for water, air and structural performance. Bigger openings - up to 16’ tall with system widths over 60’ wide. The liftslide door has a multi-point locking system for added security. Interior handles with exterior finger pulls are standard with several other handle options also available. Custom liftslide hardware actually lifts the door panel, engaging the wheels and allowing it to roll smoothly and almost effortlessly along the flush track. Because the door is lowered when locked, the weight of the door does not constantly rest on the wheels like conventional sliders. As a result, larger conventional sliders usually develop flat spots on the wheels and become difficult to operate over time. Weiland provides a 15 year warranty on liftslide hardware. As part of our evaluation process, Weiland has visited the European factories of most all liftslide gear manufacturers. The president of one Asian liftslide gear company offering stainless steel has visited the Weiland factory personally to present their hardware options. After much (and ongoing) testing and evaluation, in the end, GU (the inventor of the liftslide gear) has continued to be Weiland’s liftslide gear vendor of choice. Because a liftslide door is lowered when locked, the weight of the panels provide continuous contact between the floor and double gasket system creating a better weather barrier than conventional sliding doors. This is even more impressive considering Weiland’s liftslides met AAMA performance standards with a 3/16” flush track. While stainless steel liftslide gear options are available, internal testing indicates they may not be the best option for certain applications. Please contact our sales office to determine what’s best for you. The robust European hardware is engineered to reduce the operating force to move the door and allow increased panel weights up to 1300 lbs. This makes it possible to build much larger doors for expansive openings. No matter how big the panel, lifting and sliding the door is almost effortless. The door panel can also be locked down in any position on the track. Optional handles are exterior, permanent or removable and keyed cylinders for egress use. Handle finishes available: Dark bronze, white, brass, mill finish. Please contact our sales office for advice. Rev

Liftslide Glass Options
The liftslide door panels are designed to accept glass up to 1-1/2” thick (standard is 1-1/4”). Working with many glass suppliers allows us to offer the most options and highest performance glass available. Divided lites and lock rails are available. The choice for no glass is offered if a client chooses to use a unique glass or have glazing done on-site by others. Standard glass is 1-1/4” ( ¼, ¾, ¼)Any glass available up to 1-1/2" thick can be ordered to match most other glass types available including triple pane for certain systems. Lock rails may be required to due to glass size limitations or to maintain warranties. Please contact our sales office for details. Glass companies used include Cardinal, Old Castle, PPG, etc. In order to meet any necessary energy requirements, Weiland offers glass options that can be used in most extreme environments, including the harshest desert heat and frigid cold ski resorts. As energy standards become more important, glass options include insulated units with tempered glass, various coatings to optimize energy efficiency including laminated, tinted, and other options. Low E and other available coatings greatly reduce heat transfer through glass and help minimize fading of furniture and carpets that can be caused by UV rays. Rev

Materials Weiland uses only the best materials of the highest quality.
Most of our raw materials are locally sourced and have recycled content. Panel frames, jambs and tracks all utilize high quality marine or aircraft aluminum alloys for long life and top performance. Weiland sources and uses the highest quality wood available offering most any species available. For over 25 years Weiland has evaluated, tested, and worked with suppliers in Europe and the U.S. in order to provide the best products possible. Without sacrificing quality or performance, Weiland works hard to maximize the recycled content of all components and operate our facilities as environmentally clean as possible. Weiland doors have been used in LEED projects. Aluminum door profiles are made with 6063 aluminum, a stronger and harder alloy than the thin aluminum cladding used by others, and finished with long lasting Kynar paint. All bottom tracks are anodized for additional protection with 5083 aluminum available for coastal applications. Weiland uses only premium qualities of wood from the best sources available. Mahogany, Doug fir, walnut, cherry, alder and many other wood types are often ordered to match any décor or custom wood cabinetry. For special projects, customers can choose almost any available wood species. FSC or SFI lumber can be specified and obtained to meet appropriate environmental standards. Rev
