3 Introduction Who are we and what do we (LHES PTA) do?
Coordinate events in which parents and teachers can interface to positively affect the outcomes of public education and student performance / proficiency. Work to secure funding for teacher instruction needs Professional development / training Cost for substitutes / field trips / busses STEM / PE / In School Performances and supplemental instruction Improve communication to parents about school needs and events

4 Goals for 2016/2017 Maintain or increase funding for 2017/2018 for BASE budget (minimum $10,000 – goal of $16,500) Fundraising efficiency Increase male and minority involvement by ~20% Increase parent : teacher interface by creating more opportunities for interaction Leverage community support and outreach Continue building upon the positive characteristics of Lincoln Heights Elementary Grit Resourcefulness Diversity Community

5 Introduction How are we different
Lincoln Heights is unique in that there is a HUGE opportunity to make a real difference We want to have diversity of opinions and backgrounds to spark debate, share ideas, and brainstorm solutions in a SAFE, RESPECTABL E, PROFESSIONAL manner. Strong desire to engage the community at large and diversify our board and general membership. We want to reflect the composition of the school – socioeconomic and racial diversity

2016/2017 School Year PTA HAS 3 GENERAL MEETINGS PER YEAR (Nov/Feb/May) Majority of communication is online / text or via printed newsletter MAY MEETING is required so we can vote on new board Children are welcome at all meetings Remote Meeting Access via Google Hangouts and recordings on YouTube NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR IN SCHOOL AND AT HOME WORK

Public perceptions of LHES are changing PTA is being more visible in its contributions and asking for member commitment to help – decrease volunteer burn-out Million Father March First Day Back to School Breakfast Free Spaghetti Dinner Connecting with “Sister” Schools to build better relationships

$375 Food Lion – Spaghetti Dinner Tarheel Linens – donated use of tablecloths for dinner ~$75 biscuit donation – Biscuitville ~$75 biscuit donation – BoJangles 3 for Me Volunteer Commitment “Nifty Fifty” Opt-out Church partnership for volunteers / ideas

13 STAFF DOES SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS
Volunteers are treated to a “Volunteer Tea” hosted by the staff and teacher at LHES at the end of the year. Together they name a Volunteer of the Year that gets their name on a plaque in recognition of their commitment to LHES.
