10. I model the structure of hot gas in galaxies by looking at kinematic and chemical signatures in diffuse, high-z gas. I am looking for evidence of galactic fountains of gas created by supernova. This will help us understand how galaxies assemble over time.

13. Do you know how the atmosphere around the earth gets thinner as you go up in altitude? In the same way, the gas around galaxies gets thinner with altitude above the disc. When stars die, they explode as supernova, and blast material through the galactic gas. I study the chemical composition and movement of this blast material. If we can understand how it moves, we can understand a lot about how galaxies assemble and change over time.
