1 MIT Nuclear Reactor Quest
Sheryl, Andrew, Sandy, and Nan

2 Purpose: The purpose of this quest is to increase student engagement/active learning through having things to: look at, look for, do, and listen to focusing on the three core takeaways - nuclear is: safe smart significant using QR scans with animations and information.

3 Students will be divided into teams of 2 - 3 each
Students will be divided into teams of each. Each group will have cell phone able to read QR scans. There will be six stations throughout the reactor. Station 1- radiation with the geiger counter and information accessed through a QR scan. Station 2 - airlock entry and the reasons behind creating positive pressure Station 3 - the various uses of the reactor with QR scans at the medical station, a hot cell, and a student experiment

4 Station 4 - the actual reactor with QR scans demonstrating the nuclear reaction
Station 5 - the control room, they will find the SCRAM button from a photo and find out the various things that are controlled through asking questions. Station 6 - this station will be towards the end of the tour and will talk about nuclear energy comparing it to other energy sources

5 Each team will be equipped with a probe and Labquest.
Vernier Radiation Monitor Probe The LabQuest Graphing They can use the monitors in any authorized area of the tour. They will be asked to save and describe one of the graphs.

6 ……...At the conclusion of the tour
Kahoot Contest 5 questions based on what students learned on tour. Homework: Nuclear Fission Simulation (Phet)
