Police.ucmerced.edu Full service police department Officers are extremely well trained and fully vested with authority similar to your city, county or state officers Offer an array of services and programs such as: the mentoring program for local schools Community Service Officers who are student employees and serve as the eyes and ears of campus, including providing safety escorts A Self Defense program for women

PREPAREDNESS: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
We answer campus 911 calls 24/7 Mass notification “UCMAlert” Emergency.ucmerced.edu The UC Merced Department of Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for answering 911 calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Cell phone calls are directed to our dispatch center as well. We monitor the Blue Lights on campus which are similar to roadside call boxes UC Merced has a comprehensive emergency preparedness program which includes: Mass notification “UCMAlert” UCMAlert consists of an Internal PA System, External PA System, Digital Display Signs, , Text Messaging, and cell/desk phone messaging. Parents or friends of a student wishing to receive notifications can look at

ADDITIONAL SERVICES Lost and Found Property Registration
Text-A-Tip Anonymous Reporting: Text or The Department of Public Safety is the depository for all lost and found property on campus. We collect approximately 1,000 items every year and return about a quarter of those items to their owners. We would like to be able to return more items to their owners! Property registration can help. Property can be registered at any time with our department for a small fee. The Community Service Officers will be tabling during move-in week to help students register property. Our Department depends on our community feeling safe and comfortable reporting incidents. We have an anonymous text-a-tip service in people can text or anonymous tips to our department.

PREVENTION: VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAM
Mandatory programs for all incoming students Confidential advocacy Prevent-violence.ucmerced.edu The Violence Prevention Program provides education and advocacy for issues of sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking UC Merced takes these issues very seriously. We feel it’s everybody’s job to keep our community safe. Thus, all incoming students are required to attend an prevention program during the first couple weeks of school. Your students will receive an that will list all of the program options. We also have the calendar printed at the information fair you’re welcome to pick up. In addition to prevention programming, we provide confidential advocacy for anyone who needs help with these crimes.
