1 Engineering Design and Development - EDD
Why EVERY School Should Have This Course! Ashley Gregory, EDD Master Teacher, Holt High School, Wentzville, MO Aaron Parsons, EDD Master Teacher, Boulder Creek High School, Phoenix, Arizona

2 EDD – What Is It? Teamwork Research Design Development Problem Solving
Communication Real Life!

3 TEAMWORK Students work on a design team for the entire year.
This process helps simulate a real- world workplace experience. How students choose their teams is VERY important!

4 RESEARCH Students choose a problem that they could solve by creating an innovative product or process. This stage requires a lot of research as students try to justify and validate not only their problem selection, but their preliminary design ideas.

5 DESIGN Students come up with their designs through a series of sketches, 3D Modeling, and building a mock-up.

6 DEVELOPMENT Students present their design ideas in order to get feedback on how they should proceed. Students use this information to refine their designs.

7 PROBLEM SOLVING Students learn how to be good problem solvers through this process. Even more important than solving a problem is being able to explain the process behind their decision- making.

8 COMMUNICATION The most beneficial aspect of this course is the communication piece, as well as seeing a project through completion: Group Instructor, other administrators Mentors Peers Target Market Panel of Experts Other Clubs
