Education Analytics is the theme of this year’s meeting. At this conference. We’ll hear about analytics related to the content of curriculum (pictured here), cliniclal exposure, and clinical performance.

Keynote Associate Dean for Educational Informatics and Director, Institute for Innovations in Medical Education, New York University School of Medicine Using Analytics to Drive Change in Health Professions Education Our first keynote speaker, Dr. Marc Triola, will describe how analytics can be used to drive change in health professions education.

Keynote Rachel Ellaway, Ph.D. Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Planning, Northern Ontario School of Medicine Extended Mind: How Digital Technologies Act as Cognitive Prostheses for Health Professionals and Health Professional Learners Our second keynote, Dr. Rachel Ellaway, will explore concepts of extended mind and the use of technologies as cognitive prostheses, where technologies are not just external tools, but tools used to extend our ability to think and act.

Panel presentations Workshops We have a wide variety of sessions on the agenda designed to get you talking . We have innovation demonstrations out in hall after this plenary. After the afternoon plenary we will have facilitated discussions to further explore some new technologies; Apple’s ResearchKit and the Experience API, a standard for tracking learning activities across mobile and other environments. And tomorrow will feature panel presentations, case studies, and workshops open to all.

Jeff Leek, PhD Associate Professor, The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Learning Analytics and What We Can Learn by Studying MOOC Learners We’re delighted to have Jeff Leek delivering the Philip Dodds Memorial lecture. Dr. Leekwill be speaking about learning analytics and what we can learn from studying MOOC learners. And one important note – there are terrific workshops after the closing plenary, so don’t go home too soon! Enjoy the meeting, and with that, I’ll hand it over to Peter.
