Objective: Prepare for Monday’s chapter 11 test. Agenda: Prayer Do Now: What were the political, social, and economic results or the Mexican-American War for the United States? Go over Do Now and short essay questions (In Google Classroom) Homework: Study Log – 2 entries (2 separate days)

2 What were the political, social, and economic results or the Mexican-American War for the United States? Political – A new slave state was added (TX), A new free state was added (CA), General Zachary Taylor gained respect and popularity – eventually becomes a U.S. President. Economic – More land, more crops, more businesses, more money, CA Gold Rush created a new economy, more jobs, Transcontinental Railroad was created to connect CA to the rest of U.S. Social – Conflict over landownership between Californios/Tejanos and White settlers. Cultural and language integration and mixing, diversity (many people of different cultural backgrounds and ethnicity were added to the U.S.)  racial and social conflicts

Also lost in Mexican American war to the U.S. pg 351 and page b. rebelled because of Mexican actions: - no more new American settlements - no more bringing in of slaves - When Santa Anna tried to take cannons from Gonzales, TX this directly started the rebellion page a. Didn’t want to upset the balance of free and slave states, wanted to avoid conflict with other countries 13 b. they picked up some of the language into their culture, they began to trade. The following came from Mexicans and Native Americans in the Southwest: mining, ranching, saddles, and adobes page a. service providers, opened businesses, some mined. Page b. Skip 14c.
