What did you learn about the states by having a national or regional view for industry? What was your Ah-Ha moment? Is there anything we can do to build a stronger bridge between regulators and the industry? Other Comments

They can be a resource! Training - getting out in the field Project management and planning Technology

7 What did you wish you knew as a regulator about industry
Better understanding of operational side of business Regulatory is an important consideration for business BUT it is one of many! Financial, Staffing, Insurance, Growth, Markets, Customer complaints, Supplies and Equipment, Location, Permits, Expenses, Training, Competitors, Etc.

8 What did you wish you knew as a regulator about industry
Change can be difficult and slow…kind of like for regulators Many different moving parts often affected Marketing Research Technical Support … industry is driven by the sum of all the parts of a company which, sounds simplistic. However, every one of those parts is the most important Marketing = Because I had this idea it has to work. When can we do this? Why do we have to prove this…we said it would work, right? Research = We can prove anything… but when we explain it please don’t ask for a translation because you will won’t understand that either. Technical Support = Don’t worry about the research guys because we can explain anything to anyone… because I said so… Oh, and did you hear the Marketing initiative and how do you plan to make that happen and when. Business Guys = Everybody’s boss… Apparently, you misunderstood the question. I did not say if but when… Legal The Business Guys

9 What should industry know about the regulatory side?
Regulatory should not be viewed as a burden but a partnership States talk to each other Pressures to run programs on a ‘shoestring’

10 What should industry know about the regulatory side?
Include regulatory considerations from the beginning to the end of a project It is their job, however they did not make the rules Laws and rules have a history The Regulator and even the Agency isn’t responsible for controlling legislature or rulemaking body Industry has to step up in that role as constituents

11 What did you learn about the states by having a national or regional view for industry?
Challenging to accommodate geographic, demographic across country while maintaining the need for a consistent and equitable level of protection

12 What did you learn about the states by having a national or regional view for industry?
Appreciate the differences among states but, too much individuality and duplication of efforts that could be combined Combining will leaves more resources for what is and needs to stay unique Could then allow for decisions or actions which are difficult to achieve under constrained program to be pursued

13 What did you learn about the states by having a national or regional view for industry?
If could pick a part of each state’s rules or laws, could create an incredible program!

14 What was your Ah-Ha moment?

15 What was your Ah-Ha moment?
The difficulty in dealing with 50 different states as well as the federal agencies Companies don’t elevate their issues often enough Working for a big company isn’t all that different…except the pay is better Shades of gray Good and bad entities in each
