Celebrity Match-Ups Everyone is going to get a card with a celebrity name on it. Your job is to find the person who has the celebrity yours is dating or married to. You cannot say your celebrity name, you can only describe them to others around the room. Once you’ve found your pair, stay with them! Play for about 10 minutes

College Schedule Planning Activity
The following activity will help you practice planning a weekly schedule as a college student. You will see several activities on the board that are common to college students. You will take these activities and input them into a weekly schedule planner.
7
College Schedule Planning Activity
Rules: Use the activities shown on the next few slides to schedule an example week as a college student. You should try to schedule as many activities as possible but you have the freedom to prioritize most activities as you wish. You will have 5 minutes. Stay only on the front page, do not go on to the back until after this first portion is complete.

Whoever schedules the most activities and makes a reasonable schedule in 5 minutes will win a prize! The Admissions Rep can help judge.

Prioritizing Your Time
It’s true, college is an extremely busy time However, just because you’re busy, doesn’t mean you can’t have fun Managing your time is very different in college You aren’t in school from 8:00-4:00 every day You’re not always given homework or a specific way to study For the most part, you will dictate how you spend your time, not your professors/parents If you prioritize your time correctly, you can Work Smarter, Not Harder
13
Prioritizing Your Time
Let’s take a look back at all those activities. Time time, let’s try categorizing these activities into 3 categories Required Recurring Appointments These are items that cannot be moved, you should schedule these first. Important and Urgent These are items that need to be done this week but the timeframe you complete them is flexible. Important but not Urgent These are items that are important and enhance your college experience.

Prioritizing Activity
Reflection Questions: How did you feel about prioritizing these activities? Do you think this would make scheduling your week easier or harder? If you had to re-schedule your week, what would you do differently? What connections can you make to your current planning strategies? What questions do you still have about schedule planning in college? Note to facilitator: If you need to ask more probing questions, please feel free. The point of this activity is to show them that by prioritizing their activities in this way, they will be able to fit more activities in a week and learn how to spread tasks out. In addition, sometimes they learn they can’t do everything in one week so they will need to remove some items. By prioritizing tasks beforehand, it’s easier to identify which tasks to keep and which tasks to get rid of.

Strategies - Apps Even though your professors and parents won’t be prioritizing your tasks or telling you how to spend your time during a week, there are plenty of applications to help you stay organized We’re going to present just a few of those apps to you and explain their purpose In your notes, there is a place to jot down any thoughts you have about these and to help you keep a record about what we discuss
23
Strategies - Apps Planner Plus
Will ask to link to your current calendars on your phone.
24
Strategies - Apps Planner Plus
Automatically connects to your calendar and any Facebook events. It then gives you the option to input Tasks or Projects, assign them a priority, and potentially be alerted when things are due. You will also be able to choose what the “soon” in “due soon!” notification means: anywhere from one to seven days ahead of time.
25
Strategies - Apps myHomework
Another free app where you can input homework assignments. It will ask you for a brief description, which class it is for, and the due date. If your professors use Teachers.io, you can import your classes into the app; otherwise you can manually add them. This app also gives the option to choose a priority level for each assignment. And, as always, you can set up reminders.
26
Strategies - Apps Pocket Schedule
This app prompts you to add a semester and the duration of the semester. Then, you add your courses, picking a color for each course. You can input the days and times of each course, and even the location and the professor! Then, you can add exams and assignments with descriptions, pick a due date, set its priority, and schedule a reminder (of course!).
