13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" 14 So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Deity of Christ Each of Christ’s questions came with its own answer:
Some say one of the Prophets. You are the Christ the Son of the Living God. Peter acknowledges Christ as the one the Jews had been waiting for 1,000 years.

Deity of Christ Christ - Χριστός – Christos – “anointed one” Messiah - מָשִׁיחַ - māshîaḥ – “anointed one” Anointment was done to appoint someone to something.

Deity of Christ In the Old Testament who was anointed? Prophets – to take God’s message to man Priests – to teach God’s law and offer sacrifices Kings – political leaders (often prophets) Christ is the fulfillment of ALL these offices!!

Deity of Christ We are commanded to confess that Jesus is the Christ – Matthew 10: "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Deity of Christ Just as we all have characteristics of both our mother and our father. Christ has characteristics of His Father and his mother.

Deity of Christ Jesus is the Sone of God because of God the Father. Jesus is the Son of Man because of Mary his mother.

Deity of Christ Jesus was 100% God – Colossians 2:9 - For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; Jesus was 100% Man – 1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Deity of Christ There is very little argument that Christ was a man. Muslims, Jews, Atheists, Agnostics, and other Hostel witness say He was a man. There is over whelming evidence to show that a Man called Jesus from Nazareth, born in Bethlehem, and crucified in Jerusalem existed.
