The fellowship offers the officer the opportunity to conduct in-depth research and analysis on critical force management issues at the Departmental and DoD levels; the opportunity to become a published author exists as a part of this fellowship as well. Interested officers endure a rigorous selection process and interview to ensure that the best officer is selected to represent the force management community. Upon successful completion of the year tour, the officer incurs a three-year commitment. Officers interested in competing for this Fellowship must meet the minimal requirements outlined in AR 621-7, Fellowships and Grants. Interested officers and should contact the FA 50 branch manager at HRC and the FA 50 Proponency Office NLT 31 May of the current year to ensure timely preparation of their Fellowship packet. Officers should complete a master's degree in a primary or associate discipline (refer to tables 35-2 and 35-3) prior to consideration for the RAND Fellowship.
