3 Support in growing our young adults…...
Our tutor group is the home from home within the school. The relationship between tutor and home is the most important as the tutor will know the student best through their academic progress and conduct. Clear contact is essential. Clear structure in place everyday to support literacy and numeracy within their learning.

Our Values, Beliefs and Behaviours We value and respect all people for their knowledge, experience and capabilities. We value our heritage and we believe families and our local community can play an inspiring and purposeful role in young people’s learning. We believe that all young people from every kind of background should be equally recognised as being creative and individual. We believe that learning should engage all members of the community in order to support them in fulfilling their personal and academic potential. We expect everyone to demonstrate through their actions and behaviours, respect for themselves and the community – people, property and the environment - and take pride in what they are capable of achieving. We expect parents to be involved with the school, taking an active interest in the development of their own and others' children, and for staff to seek opportunities for parents to come into school.

7 Role of the tutor The role of the tutor within the education of our students is at the very heart of our EPCS vision. The raising standards team has developed a system to help students and parents deliver clear expectations to ensure success for your child. Parents and tutors working together will create the tone which will help your child achieve their potential.

11 Numeracy and Literacy Staff have undertaken an inset to ensure the numeracy programme is effectively delivered within the tutor time. Each student has a ‘my maths’ login to support their learning at home. These are available today. During the first half term the literacy focus is on reading within the tutor room. This time is also being used to introduce the student council programme and go through the election process. After half term the programme will move toward debate and looking at current issues.
