What’s new with HPE StoreEasy
Added 7 new product SKUs for StoreEasy with WSS2016 operating system Added an upgrade SKU that can be purchased for existing StoreEasy products Updated StoreEasy Management Tools and documentation Updated the Processors from E5-2600v3 to E5-2600v4 on the new SKUs, also updated the memory SKUs to accommodate this change Changed OS SSDs that are used on the 1650, 1850, and 3850 to Mixed Use SSDs Switched from the P440ar on the 1650 to the P840ar, which enabled removal of the SAS expander board Expanding a diverse selection of capacity, performance, and price points to help SMBs find the right NAS for their business and its data New StoreEasy models include Windows Storage Server 2016, the latest generation Intel processors, and dual inline memory that delivers greater efficiency, security, and simplicity Fine-tuned deduplication & compression delivers greater capacity efficiency and helps customers maximize their usable space Encryption hardening against man-in-the-middle attacks enhances an already strong security foundation for StoreEasy Helping customers economically scale as their data grows over time with more cost predictability than cloud storage NEW bulk capacity drive bundles enable customers to scale capacity over time to support more data without the increase in transactional/operational costs associated with cloud-based file storage platforms. The new drive bundles deliver 25% greater density so customers can scale the density of their systems without increasing footprint. We help them address capacity needs throughout the life of the product easily with provisioning enhancements to our Pool Manager and guided configurations that help SMBs with IT generalists protect against drive failures and data loss, while optimizing their system for capacity, performance, or a blend of the two. Helping partners increase annuity revenues and strengthen customer relationships through proactive capacity notifications that now direct customers and partners to the specific drive bundles to order. Beyond helping customers manage the onslaught of unstructured data growth, we help them prevent disruption through highly available disaster recovery & backup solutions that integrate seamlessly with HPE StoreEasy so they can easily protect their data without overextending their IT resources. - Customers looking to transition to a hybrid IT approach can leverage the Microsoft Azure cloud as a backup target for data on StoreEasy. With native integration and a few simple steps, customers or partners can quickly configure and deploy a vault in Azure for StoreEasy backups, and restore in case of an outage or catastrophic failure. For customers in a Windows-based IT environment, they can leverage the StoreEasy 1650 Expanded as a dedicated backup appliance for Microsoft Data Protection Manager, a component of System Center. StoreEasy 1650 Exp can scale to the maximum DPM server limit, and protect critical Microsoft applications, Hyper-V VMs, employee PCs, and file shares, allowing customers to protect their Microsoft ecosystem with a single 2U NAS.

Things to be aware of when working with WSS 2016
All of the StoreEasy products ship with an imbedded license that should automatically activate. In the event that the operating system is not activated, there is a watermark showing the edition of Windows is not activated on the desktop and personalization features are disabled. Entire Screen notification appears periodically, roughly once in 6 hours. However, the operating system otherwise functions normally. If the system board is replaced the customer will need to manually activate the OS using the COA sticker affixed to the system. (see Customer Advisory c ) By default the Windows Defender (Antimalware) is installed and enabled, but the user interface for Windows Server Antimalware is not installed. Windows Server Antimalware will update antimalware definitions and protect the computer without the user interface. If you need the user interface for Windows Server Antimalware, you can install it after the operating system installation by using the Add Roles and Features Wizard. Make sure that customer’s are aware that they may be required to update their Server Antivirus and Antimalware applications to run them on Windows Server 2016 or Windows Storage Server 2016 It is recommended that customer’s contact any third party application vendors about WSS2016 compatibility prior to attempting an installation Customer’s Active Directory domain controllers should be updated with the latest Windows 2016 schema. For a complete list of the changes are in Windows Server 2016 refer to the information in this link: started/what-s-new-in-windows-server-2016

Things to be aware of when working with WSS 2016
When setting up a two node cluster with a StoreEasy or a 3PAR File Controller v3 Have both nodes powered on. Recommend that you use iLO to remote into both nodes or to have monitors connected to both nodes using the SUV connector. Select just one node to be the primary node and perform all pre-installation settings from that node Language selection License acceptance When prompted on whether or not to set up as a 2 node cluster select yes. After discovery has finished and the primary node successfully connected to the other node, the second node will advance to the license page and wait for input on acceptance of the license. After accepting the licensing then the primary node will continue to mange the second node through the rest of the post installation process.

Initial Setup Quick Start Guide
A quick start guide is shipped with each server, be sure to review and follow the steps in this guide. If the quick start guide is missing then you can download it from: Instructions are provided in the quick start guide for: Installation of the storage system hardware Accessing the system through either direct attach or through iLO Powering on the system and completing the configuration. Selecting the language Accepting the EULA Create the local Administrator password for the StoreEasy 1x50 models; for StoreEasy 3x50 & 3PAR File Controller v3 the initial Administrator login password is HPEStorage! (new default password) <CTRL><ALT><DEL> to login with the password so that the configuration can complete. During this step any hardware added to the system is detected and also additional updates are applied to the system. The system will reboot when it has completed this phase. After the reboot log on to the system with the local Administrator login and password, at this point the system will boot into the Initial Configuration Task (ICT) window which guides the user through the rest of the implementation.
