September 9, 2015 Objective: To understand the English classroom policies/procedures, grading, and curriculum for the year. Warm-Up: Write a note to your child explaining why you feel writing is important. About Me Classroom Set Up Writing Grades Your Part HW** Check Parent Portal once a week. Check Daily Team Agenda every day.

Grading Policy Class work/Homework 30% Quizzes/Writing 30%
Tests & Projects 40% Tests can be corrected up to a passing grade (70) - not automatic—Student must do corrections according to directions give to earn the 70; (Students are allowed to use a dictionary and oftentimes their notes!) Lowest Daily Grade is dropped at the end of every nine weeks (Quiz grades are NOT dropped) Extra Credit is NOT given; however, bonus points may be earned on quizzes and/or tests; some points earned for various stages of completing the writing process All late work penalized 20% of the original grade per NEISD; Unexcused absences count as Late Work per NEISD policy. Vacations are NOT excused absences.
