5 Backpack Program The Backpack Program helps children get the nutritious and easy-to- prepare food they need to get enough to eat on the weekends. Today, bags of food are assembled at more than 160 local food banks and school and are then distributed to more than 450,000 children at the end of the week. Many schools count on food donations from other families, businesses, and organizations to get the food for the backpacks they send home with these children on Fridays.

6 Everyday a child dies of starvation.

7 Backpack Program The backpack food program requires the cooperation and support of the entire community. It literally takes a team and community to help keep our children from going hungry. It takes school officials, community organizations, faith-based organizations, parents, and children to make this work.
