Road to War Germany wanted to expand their boarders (Lebensraum) German troops invaded the Rhineland (France) (1936) Wanted to annex Austria into German control (1938) Hitler demanded Czechoslovakia hand over the Sudetenland (1938) Demanded the rest of Czechoslovakia (1939)

Road to War Europe did not want to get into another war so quickly British Prime Minister, Neville Chamberlain, believed that Hitler did not want to go to war Chamberlain told the world that he had helped to create “Peace in our time.”

Road to War While Germany was expanding/taking over, France & England threatened Hitler with war if he did not back off WWI had drained France & England of military resources, and they were not able to back up what they were saying

He realized that to expand German lands, he would need to keep the Soviet Union as a close ally
