2 Minnie’s Hope Social Pediatric Centre
Started in 2014 to offer services to children and families of Whapmagoostui and Kuujjuaraapik Named to honor a late community member and her two sons who died tragically in a situation of family violence. The young boys were of both Cree and Inuit lineage Incorporated, nonprofit organization with Cree, Inuit and non-Native sitting on the Board of Directors

3 The mission of Minnie’s Hope is to help each child of the community achieve his/her potential regardless of their situation and any physical, developmental or social challenges they may be facing.

4 Services are offered in a home-like, comfortable, welcoming environment

5 Support is offered in such a way that is:
Non-judgmental, inclusive and relationship based More in line with traditional Cree and Inuit philosophies

7 Consultation with elders for the Ungaluk Project- Increasing Protective Factors

8 Our approach is based on social pediatrics models with a proven effectiveness in helping children achieve their potential.

9 It has been demonstrated that funds invested at the youngest age in prevention represent significant savings compared with the cost of life long needs in rehabilitation, mental health or social issues

10 The approach encourages partnership and brings together all available resources for the benefit of the children and their families

12 Programs Presently Offered at Minnie’s Hope
Social Pediatrics Children 0-18 years old and families or caregivers Head Start Pre and post-Natal, activities for ages 0-5 year olds not in daycare or in school Ungaluk Project Increasing Protective Factors for youth 8-12 years old
