Description/ What Causes It
Caused by deficiency of Vitamin D, Calcium or phosphate. Rickets leads to softening and weakening of the bones and is seen most commonly in children 6-24 months of age.

Symptoms An oddly shaped, legs that bow out, bumps in your ribcage, a protruding breastbone, a curved spine, a pelvic deformities.

Treatment Calcium and vitamin D supplements
The child may need corrective surgery. For hereditary rickets, a combination of phosphate supplements and a special form of vitamin D is required to treat the disease.
