Policy = a government plan
Ex = a population policy is a government’s plan about how to control the population growth of its people

6. What is an expansive population policy?
When the government seeks to increase the rate of natural increase (NIR)
Ex = Russia’s population is decreasing so government gives 10,000 to women who give birth to a second or third child

7. What is an eugenic population policy?
When the government encourages one race to reproduce while restricting another race from reproducing.
Ex = Nazi Germany encouraged white Aryans to reproduce with each other while making it illegal for white Aryans to have sex with Jews or other “non-white” Aryans.

9. What is a restrictive population policy?
When the government seeks to reduce the rate of natural increase (NIR).
Gov’ts do this by:
1. encouraging the use of contraceptives
2. subsidizing abortions
3. sterilizing people
4. prohibiting large families
