2 What is a possessive noun?
The possessive form of a noun shows ownership or relationship. Relationship: Rudy’s teacher discussed the Martian atmosphere. Ownership: Inez could see Mars through her father’s telescope.

3 Singular Possessive Nouns
To make a singular noun possessive, add an apostrophe and –s. Ex. singular possessive planet planet’s color Mars Mars’s atmosphere

4 Plural Possessive Nouns
If a plural noun ends in –s, add an apostrophe to make the noun possessive. Ex. plural plural poss. canals canals’ shape rocks rocks’ origin

5 If a plural noun does not end in –s, add an apostrophe and –s.
Ex plural plural poss. women women’s careers children children’s games
