4 Memory Moments A Memory Moment is the point in the book when the writer interrupts what is happening in the story to show us the main character as he or she remembers something important. You may have heard the term “flashbacks” instead of Memory Moments. Memory Moments help us understand: Character development Plot Theme

5 Clues for Memory Moments
They can be obvious: “I remembered the first time I met him…” “In that moment, the memory came flooding back…” They can be a little harder to find: “My dad likes to tell the story about the time when…” “This picture always reminds me of…” Look for remembered or reminded or memory

6 When we notice Memory Moments…
We must ask ourselves the anchor question. The anchor question for Memory Moments is: Why might this memory be important?
