2 New police The 19th century saw the development of Police systems, because of the growing crime rate. European states established civilian police forces containing well trained officers to save lives, arrest offenders and keep the peace.

3 Counties police forces
In 1829 France saw the police starting up by a man named Louis-Maurice Debelleyme. The French police hit the streets in March 1829 and were known as serjents. The British police forces also hit the streets in 1829 replacing constables with the British officers known as Bobbies. 4 Approaches to Crime Problems
One approach would be they made people find work, another was using religion to teach things such as… No killing, or stealing.

5 Prison More crime meant more arrest which made the need to put these criminals some where. The place was now as prison The British and French modeled their prison after the Americans. The whole prison system was solitary confinement until there were to many people.
