Learning from comparable programs:
Programs tend to not capture large numbers, but tend to be important to membership
More associations are viewing mentoring as an important and necessary offering
Clear expectations regarding mentee and mentor expectations are critical to forming good relationships
Thorough mentor vetting can assist with relationship development
Successful programs generally have mentoring as an aspect of credentialing (education hours or PDUs)
Programs generally have few restrictions on mentees, with greater restrictions on mentors
Mentoring programs require staff support of at least ¼ FTE (for smaller programs)
