3. 3 Real World Problem The customer was spending way too much time and money to manually create workstation/laptop images every quarter –15 – 20 images created requiring a Certification & Accreditation Package for each Patches come out regularly and image is obsolete before it has been certified We were tasked to develop a solution to cut down the time and cost of developing an image

4. 4 Task Develop a solution that will allow for faster integration of security patches and software Enable solution to easily accept new versions of Windows Operating systems Allow Deployment Technicians easily add extra software on top of image

5. 5 Constraints Limited budget to develop project Unfamiliar with current deployment technologies Development team had no experience with coding Must be centralized and controlled 15 to 20 separate hardware sets needing separate drivers Hardware specific software (i.e. Video Drivers)

7. 7 Problem Solution Customer hired Microsoft Consultant to teach us about deployment technologies Used Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and Windows Automated Installation Kit to decouple image from hardware (free software) Scripted installation of applications with AutoIT and SMS packager (free software) Created task sequences to ease installation and prevent mistakes
