Only saying what is in the room doesn’t create a very interesting picture. We need to use ADJECTIVES.

4 Adjective: a word that describes a noun (person, place, or thing)

7 When describing places, we need to use PREPOSITIONS.

8 Preposition: a word that shows location.

9 Useful Prepositions next to/beside opposite in front of above/over
behind in beneath/under on

10 There is a lamp behind the sofa.
There is a chair next to the fireplace. / There is a chair beside the fireplace. There is a lamp behind the sofa. There is a coffee table in front of the sofa.

11 There is a fireplace opposite the sofa.
There is a book beneath the coffee table. / There is a book under the coffee table.

12 There is a lamp over the table.
There are some plants on the table. There are some eggs in the bowl.

13 There are some pictures on the wall.
There is a TV on the wall.

14 Useful Expressions in the left corner in the right corner
