Activity: Blue Bird sharing
What is one thing you remember from the webinar?
Each person in the group shares a short (think tweet) statement of what they remember.
Go around the group with each person sharing one thing, until time is called.
Have participants think back to when they saw the DIISUP Webinar, either on Nov 9, or the archived version.
Hopefully this quick review helped everyone reconnect to the learning from that day. We will now review some of the key points we want to keep in mind as we go deeper into the protocols today.

6. DIISUP Section
LEAs are required to increase or improve services provided to unduplicated students as compared to services provided for all students
DIISUP does not impose a restriction on HOW funds are spent
Amount of increase/improvement must be by at least percentage listed in DIISUP section (from FCMAT calculator)
This does not place a restriction on what funds can be spent on

Last section of LCAP asks to describe how each LEA-wide or School-wide service meets the DIISUP requirement

Ways an action or service can contribute to meeting the DIISUP Requirement
Targeted exclusively at unduplicated student groups (“Limited to Unduplicated Student Groups”)
School-Wide or LEA-Wide
For LEA operating multiple sites, use “LEA-wide” to refer to all schools and use “Schoolwide” to refer to single school
For LEA operating single site, use “LEA-wide” or “Schoolwide” but be consistent throughout LCAP
An Example of targeted is: Bilingual aide, or spanish:english glossaries
An example of - wide might be: district wide vocabulary development program

Based on local context and need, it is principally directed to and effective in meeting an LCAP goal for unduplicated students

All County Offices of Education
All Charter Schools
School Districts (with unduplicated % of at least 55%)
Non-Charter Schools (with unduplicated % of at least 40%)

10. DIISUP Section LEA- or School-Wide Action or Service
Based on local context and need, it is principally directed to and most effective in meeting an LCAP goal for unduplicated students
Include alternatives considered and supporting research, experience, or educational theory
Applies to
School Districts (with unduplicated % less than 55%)
Non-Charter Schools (with unduplicated % less than 40%)

Identified services are those in Goals, Actions, and Services section in LCAP that are listed as contributing to meeting DIISUP Requirement
Note that new template may look different, but the same information is there.

14. DIISUP Approach When considering DIISUP Actions/Services:
Have a clearly defined understanding of what your district’s base program is.
Ensure that the right people, with knowledge of programs for unduplicated students, are part of the conversation.

15. DIISUP Approach General DIISUP Considerations:
What evidence (research, data, local experience) exists to support the inclusion as an increased or improved service? Is it specific to unduplicated students?
How have your stakeholders (incl. advisory committee, if applicable) addressed these questions?

Considerations for each existing DIISUP action/service:
What is the continuing need among unduplicated students to continue this existing action/ service?
What data or information in the LCAP Annual Update section supports the conclusion that this existing action/service addresses a need of unduplicated students? Is this data or information specific to unduplicated students?
Existing actions or services can be kept, revised, or strategically abandoned.

17. DIISUP Approach Considerations for each new DIISUP action/service:
What is the need among unduplicated students for this new action/service and how will it benefit unduplicated students? Is the need/benefit different for non-unduplicated students?
How will you know if this new action/service increases or improves services for unduplicated students as opposed to non-unduplicated students?
If you add something new is there something else you can strategically abandon?
