Evaluation of Akreos AO micro-incision IOL, implantation in 350 eyes :
Danielle DEIDIER, M.D. Clinique Saint Vincent, Toulon - France ASCRS 2009 NO FINANCIAL INTEREST IN THIS STUDY
2
Purpose To analyse clinical results of 350 cases:
Implantation of Akreos AO microincision Incision size = 1.7mm ASCRS 2009
3
METHODS Prospective study on 350 eyes Single centre, one surgeon
Biaxial surgical technique : two 1.3mm incisions (main one then enlarged to 1.7mm for Akreos MI60 injection). Stellaris Phacoemulsification system ASCRS 2009

METHODS Follow-up: Preoperatively , post-op at 10 days, 1 month, 2 years OUTCOMES : BCVA UCVA Astigmatism Endothelial cell count Stability in capsular bag Yag laser capsulotomy rate - ASCRS 2009

RESULTS - Good stability over time with excellent post-op BCVA & UCVA
- Low level of induced astigmatism & no change in axis - Low endothelial cell loss - 15 capsulotomy (PCO) since beginning of study (sept 06) - 2 Rhexis phimosis - 8 Fibrosis of posterior capsular bag surface without loss of visual acuity

CONCLUSION After two years working with Akreos AO micro-incision MI60, clinical outcomes are excellent and post-operative complications rate is very low. We succeed in our challenge to implant an aspheric microincision IOL through 1.7mm without induced astigmatism, in a reproducible and safe manner. ASCRS 2009
