3 What is Ashuukin services?
Ashuukin Services is a service provided for the elders that are autonomous and semi-autonomous; A residential center that will provide 24/7 security service for the residents of the center; In home-style setting that will allow the residents to feel at home with a peace of mind; Holistic and therapeutic approach/settings and services

4 Who are our team members?

5 What services will it provide?
Individualized services: As a group Assistance with daily activities: Help with hygiene & self care (Health Aid Assistants); Well balanced meals; Scheduled professional visits as required: Foot care nurse Doctor visits Nutritionist visits 24/7 security service for the building; Social events such as: Sewing nights; Traditional teaching exchange; Movie night (NFB);

6 Who are our clients? Adults mostly elders who are autonomous to semi-autonomous; Elders who cannot stay at home alone and are not ready for the hospital; Elders who are HCCP clients (if clients accept); Elders who volunteer to be residents;

7 Who are the key partners for the Ashuukin Services?
The key partners for this project are: The Waswanipi Cree First Nation The Community members of the Waswanipi Cree First Nation The Cree Board of Health and Social Services Clinical & Administrative Representatives The Ministry of Health & Social Services Indigenous Health Program Coordinators

8 Roles and Responsibilities
CBHSSJB CFNW As a partner, the CBHSSJB is responsible to ensure the continuation of communication throughout the development of the project; As a promoter of the project, the CHBSSJB will be responsible by ensuring full support from the professional team for the CFNW as the service provider; As a promoter the CBHSSJB will ensure the training and certification for the staffing of the IRC; As a representative of the partnership at the provincial level, the CBHSSJB will speak on behalf of the parties and will do all things possible to get approval for the funding and will continue to act as a representative thereafter; As a promoter the CBHSSJB will prepare all necessary documents (briefing sheets, etc.) to present to all parties involved in this project (CFNW, CBHSSJB & Provincial level). As the owner of the center, the CFNW will be responsible of keeping the facility up-to-par with the collaboration of the CBHSSJB’s building technician; As an employer, the CFNW will be responsible of ensuring all the staff is well trained and certified to ensure the wellbeing of the residents and users; As the administrator of the service, the CFNW will be responsible for the promotion and continuation of the services for the community elders; As a service provider, the CFNW will be responsible for snow removal and maintenance of the access road, service road and parking areas around the facility. As a partner, the CFNW will ensure the communication is established on regular basis with the project coordinator of the CBHSSJB;

9 Positive outcome Other communities will want a similar project:
Identify their needs and not wants Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay going beyond their mandate by providing the needed services as per the communities’ needs; Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay going the extra step to keep Cree in Eeyou Itschee as much as possible and when possible; Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay will be the fist Cree organization to be part of a “Projet Novateur”; Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay will show they support healthy living and promoting healthy lifestyles; Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay will be
