1 Nucleic Acids

2 Nucleic Acids -Consists of a long chain of nucleotides.
-Stores coded information in the form of DNA and RNA. -Is the blueprints for making proteins. -Transmit genetic info to the next generation. -Contain CHONP -Made by Nucleus in Eukaryotic Cells. -Consists of a long chain of nucleotides. -Nucleotide is the monomer. -Polymer is Nucleic Acid

3 Nucleotide Made up of 3 types of molecules: -5 Carbon sugar (pentose)
-Phosphate group -Nitrogenous base.

4 ATP -Adenosine Triphosphate -Single Nucleotide -Functions as a high energy molecule used by the body for energy. -Made in the processes of Cellular respiration and photosynthesis.

5 DNA -Deoxyribonucleic acid- found in all cells,
makes up our genetic material; controls cell activity. -Sequence of bases stores the genetic code for its own replication and the sequence of - amino acids in proteins. -Has 2 strains that bond together forming a helix -Sugar is Deoxyribose -Bases are A, G, T, C

6 DNA 5-C sugar (deoxyribose) Phosphate Nitrogen base -adenine (A)
Each nucleotide in DNA contains: 5-C sugar (deoxyribose) Phosphate Nitrogen base -adenine (A) -guanine (G) -cytosine (C) -thymine (T)

7 RNA -Ribonucleic acid- is used to make proteins and enzymes.
-Is a single stranded nucleic acid -It translates the genetic code of DNA into the amino acid sequence of proteins. -Sugar is Ribose -Bases are A, G, U, C

8 RNA Each nucleotide in RNA contains: 5-C sugar (Ribose) Phosphate
Nitrogen base -adenine (A) -guanine (G) -cytosine (C) -Uracil (U)
