Our promise to serve the church includes a promise to serve Christ through The United Methodist Church and in our daily lives.

"He went and took the scroll from the right hand of the one who was seated on the throne. When he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. They sing a new song: 'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation; you have made them to be a kingdom and priests serving our God, and they will reign on earth'" (NRSV).

God has promised the power of the Holy Spirit to help us in this effort. Acts 1:8, we find this assurance and instruction: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Sharing the story of God's grace in our lives with others is one way to bear witness. "For you will be his witness to all the world of what you have seen and heard" (Acts 22:15).

10. We need not fear, for we have the Holy Spirit's presence with us
We need not fear, for we have the Holy Spirit's presence with us. I Peter 3:13- 16:
"Now who will harm you if you are eager to do what is good? But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated, but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense (explanation/reason) to anyone who demands from you an account of the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence."

11. As followers of The Way, we are called to witness to Jesus Christ, his suffering, death, and resurrection from the dead! Alleluia!
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9
