1 American Romanticism Visualizing Your Final Response

2 In this collection the student will demonstrate an understanding of how democratic confidence in the ability of ordinary individuals to better themselves might improve the political system and society as a whole the belief that the spread of technology threatened the natural world and the necessary and close link between nature and humanity Choose one of the following methods to demonstrate this goal: Observe something in nature and journal about it in the style of Emerson or Thoreau. Include with this journal an explanation of which author you imitated and how you attempted to imitate the author. Write comparison essay discussing Emerson, Fuller, and Thoreau's philosophy on self-reliance making sure to use quotations to support your ideas. Write a conversation (think one act play) between several writers from this collection as they discuss how their works speak to the collection objectives.
