End-users must be able to correctly interpret the information and use the information properly.
It must be defined, aggregated, and organized in such a manner for stakeholders so that it becomes useful and relevant information.

SPC needed to leverage data from across the College by linking multiple data systems and elements in one reporting interface.
Note for #2: SPC collects and stores thousands of data elements at the institution, yet it has various polices, procedures, and software related mechanisms in place that restrict (or even at times prevent) the use and access of data.

The intent of BI is to provide timely, relevant, and valid information to stakeholders in an easy-to-interpret format in order to support sound decision-making and drive performance improvement.

9. Business Intelligence implementation originated at SPC.
Being implemented in several Florida State Colleges.
Configurable. Data Dictionary is used to create data warehouse and is driving refresh operations.
Source System agnostic. Input files are all CSV files.

Provides standardized information with the ability to look at data measures through multiple views [One Source of the Truth].
Enables users to ‘drill-down’ to student-level detail and ‘roll-up’ to program, campus , and college-level perspectives.

Current implementation requires administrative and development knowledge of various technologies: SQL Server, SSAS Server, SharePoint / Performance Point. Some colleges do not have people and skills.
SharePoint BI tools & PerformancePoint not being developed for the future.

18. Data Warehouse: SQL Server moved to Azure instead of being on premise.
Data Marts: using SSAS Tabular model instead of Dimensional model. Only Tabular model is supported in Azure cloud.
