Build Up Local IQA SME Objectives
Develop local engine installation system subject expert/specialist to enhance regional capabilities on IQA related work in China. Establish tutor mechanism between global SME and local SME. Insert Data Classification
9
Roles of Global SME Support local SME work actively and responsively.
Transfer knowledge and experiences to local SME Insert Data Classification
10
Roles of Local SME (Proposal)
Work with global SME actively on each system. Deeply understand the system self and installation requirements. Provide training to local application engineers. Develop more local subject matter specialists, especially in JVs. Interpret CEB, answer questions from local application engineers. Support problem solving during IQA. Support IQA panel review, audit and make issue coding. Final IQA approver on own area, consulting global SME as needed. Feedback reginal experiences and requirements to global SME and CEB owner to improve IQA requirements and process. Assist VPI CE to identify and develop installation requirements. Develop IQA SME - Challenges
Language barrier for precise technical discussion Lack experience for the new role Not response quickly Need evidence of historical failures Lack test resource for non-VPI/VPCR leading projects Multiple delegations, require a relatively fixed contact Regional Difference Tech: emission level, vehicle/machine type, operation condition Non-Tech: org. structure, responsibility LK: Bilingual engineers in Columbus/China can help for some important teleconferences. LK: The support to China SME will be evaluated and recorded in global SMEs’ On Track. LK: Global SMEs are conducting projects to compare the failure rates of production products that passed or failed IQA check respectively. Insert Data Classification

Develop IQA SME Plan Introduce SME to all China CE, increase visibility and engagement. Promote and enhance two way communications regularly. Focus on & track key issues to maintain connections and build up capability. Support AIR translation to launch Advisor 6 in China successfully. Quarterly review with domestic team and global team. (Hanson, LK lead) Key projects: Cooling: Develop China LAT standards for HD and LD vehicles F&D: Support global team to develop ALD; Optimize test method and standard, low temp thermostat, initial fill rate, deaeration time. Air compressor: ALD instead of test, simplify requirements Electric: ground cable, staring resistance Insert Data Classification
