Tethys By Lex Mayer

Tethys Tethys is the Goddess of Nursing and fresh water. She is the daughter of Uranus and Gaia. She married Oceanus and gave birth to 3,000 nymphs known as Oceanids. She is one of the 12 titans of Uranus and Gaia such as Coeus, Crius, Cronos, Dione, Hyperion, Mnemosyne, Oceanus, Phoebe, Rhea, Thia and, Themis. Tethys did not take part in the titanomachy and remained neutral which lead to no punishment for her. But her husband was thrown into Tartarus.

Oceanids Oceanids were the 3,000 goddess nymphs who presided over earth’s fresh waters to rain clouds to subterranean springs and fountains. They can be classified into 5 groups: Nephelai (Cloud Nymphs), Aurai (Breeze Nymphs), Naiades (Spring and Fountain Nymphs), Leimonides (Pasture Nymphs), and Anthousai (Flower Nymphs). The Eldest were among the Titanides (female titans) which composed of Styx, Dione, Neda, Metis, Klymene, Eurynome, Doris, Elektra, and Pleione. They are supposedly the goddesses of the clouds.

Tethys and Hera During the Titanomachy it was believed that Tethys was taking care of Hera (her step-child) and supposedly she was also taking care of Selene and Helios.
5
Deception of Zeus Tethys appears in the Epic Trojan War. During the war, Hera lied about going to visit Oceanus and Tethys But instead went to Aphrodite to get beautified and seduced Zeus and made love to him until he was exhausted. This let other gods interfere with the war even though they weren’t allowed to.
