16 Look Fors in a UDL Learning environment
1) The goal is clear and accessible to all learners. 2) What options are available in the environment that promote achievement of the goals? 3) What noticeable barriers prevent learners from learning the goal? How can the UDL guidelines help to overcome these barriers? 4) In listening to the environment what do you hear that suggests expert learning is happening? 5) What do you hear and see that indicates that this learning environment is supportive of all learners and recognizes learner variability as being the norm?

What considerations need to be made for the learner? Strengths and barriers to learning. How can student engagement be increased?  How can the content be represented in multiple Ways? How can the thinking be captured in various ways?

- Provide multiple seating options - Provide multiple task regions in the classroom - Provide a safe and inviting environment - Decrease visual and auditory stimulation  - Have choice be embedded in the environment

20 Recap Universal Design for Learner puts the learner at the center of learning. UDL is a learning stance, a mindset and philosophy; not an initiative or an activity When you are teaching the "WHAT" don't specify how. When you are teaching the "HOW" don't specify what.
