As they flow, rivers do 3 things:
Erosion Transport Deposition
2
Erosion and Weathering
Corrasion/Abrasion Attrition Solution/Corrosion Hydraulic Action Physical (Freeze-Thaw) Biological Chemical
3
Weathering (outside the river) and erosion are (in the river) separate processes. But they do work together to erode rivers.
4
What is a Drainage Basin?
The area of land drained by a river.
6
The Drainage Basin The area where the river gets it water from – all rain that falls in it will find its way to the river. The start of a river. A smaller river which feeds into the main river. An imaginary boundary dividing one drainage basin from another, usually a line of high land. Confluence Where the river meets the sea. The point where two rivers meet.
