Hosted law firms graduate recruitment fairs. - Travelled overseas, California ended up in London, EY Fraud investigation group - Worked predominately in-house, 2 years in private practice, roles with technology based businesses, last role in Japanese Investment Bank – Vice President – General Commercial Counsel. THE FIRM Started in London in 2006.
Simple idea. In-house counsel to a number of small finance companies bring the in-house service to smaller companies. Mixture of retainer and pre-purchased hours. Returned to Australia in 2011 Clearpoint Counsel 2012. 4th year – retainers and fixed fees. Consultative not transactional law

“Greedy” “Money” “Tiresome” “Cautious” “Overcomplicated” “Pretentious” “Unfree” “Uncomfortable” “Conflicted” “Powerful” “Scary” “Overpriced” “Weasel words” “...Environmental & Human Rights lawyers are heroes...” “...the kind of people you have contact with when there is the likelihood of conflict...” 2014, we initiated a one second survey, asking that simple question: "what do you think of lawyers... in one word. 1 – 3 Australian Lawyers suffer from depression, anxiety or another form of mental illness. Young lawyers are increasingly rejecting the long hours culture and profit above purpose culture. Work Life Balance?

What does this mean? - There are over 1,203 companies, 38 Countries, 121 industries with unifying goal B Corps are a global movement of businesses seeking to redefine success in business B Corps are profit for purpose companies that seek formally take into account stakeholder interests as well as shareholder interests in their decision-making Started in US AND 1 – maximizing shareholder value. - Co-working at the Hub – social enterprise or what some people prefer to call impact business. - B – Corp certification process - Governance, Workers, Community and Environment. - For profit or not for profit – this is actually not the question.
